View our six step cleaning process below or call us with any cleaning questions you may have.
1. Dusting
Over time, dirt and sand accumulates deep inside of your oriental rugs and carpets. This causes two problems. First, the air you breathe in your home becomes contaminated with old dust causing allergies and unsafe conditions for your children and pets. Second, this dirt acts like sandpaper slowly wearing down the fibers of your rug causing unwanted worn areas. Ordinary vacuum cleaners are ineffective at removing dirt since the dirt is trapped inside the foundation beneathe the fibers.
Our solution is to remove the trapped dirt and sand through vibrations created by rapidly and repeatedly beating the back side of the rug. Vibrations cause the soil to fall out of your rug, creating a pile of dirt on the floor as you can see above.

2. Scrubbing
After the trapped dirt has been removed, the rugs are then ready to be scrubbed with environment-friendly soap. Scrubbing rugs with soap do wonders for a rug's shine and colors and also bring out a lot of small stains. Rugs that are too delicate to be machine scrubbed are hand brushed.
Rugs that have problems, such as animal urine or mildew, are chemically neutralized. For animal urine, we scrub with an enzyme that breaks down the proteins that cause that foul smell. Mildew is killed on the spot. Many insurance companies trust us to clean rugs in all types of conditions including fire damage, color run, smoke damage, water damage and more. We have to experience necessary to treat your rug in the best and most cost effective way possible.

3. Rinsing
Now its time to rinse. This is where the big machinery comes in. Rugs are scrubbed once again and thoroughly rinsed with three rows of rinsers spraying 60 gallons of water per minute. This fully rinses out all the soap from the rug. Soap, if not properly rinsed out, causes brown stains when dry which makes rinsing a crucial step in the rug cleaning process.
Some rugs, however, are not able to get too wet. For example, rugs in danger of color run are hand brushed and dried flat. The treatment of each rug is on a rug-to-rug basis because some rugs are more delicate than others and not all rugs can be cleaned using the same method. Whatever the case, you can be sure that your rug will be handled by experienced carpet care professionals.

4. Extracting
Next, we extract most of the water minutes after being wet with a large wringer made of solid metal which rolls over the rug and squeezes the excess water out. This is a crucial part of our custom built rug washing machine as most rug cleaning problems such as color run occur due the rug being overly wet for long periods of time.
Also, since soap attaches itself to dirt, it needs to be extracted out to remove the dirt that could not be removed through the dusting process. This results in the rug's wool coming out soft and shiny and beautiful. The difference is noticeable.

5. Drying
After the excess water is removed, the rugs are then hanged on a pole to be sent to our dry room. Our two story dry room is heated to a temperature of 90° Fahrenheit until all the rugs have dried. This minimizes the amount of time your rugs stay wet and allows the wool to come out smoother and softer - much like the difference between a towel dried in the drier and one air dryed.
The rugs are sent upstairs using our custom built rug pulley system which takes the rugs directly from the rug washing machine to the two story dry room above. This allows us to handle large rugs with ease and have them dry properly. Other companies are afraid to get the large rugs too wet because wet rugs are harder to move or hang. We have all the equipment necessary to professionaly clean all types of rugs and carpets.

6. Detailing
After the rugs have dried, they are ready to be taken down from the poles. Each rug is taken down pole by pole and checked for any remaining stains as well as other problems. Fringes are cleaned separately as most fringe is cotton and needs to be cleaned in a separate process.
Many small stains are usually removed but, of course, not all stains are easily removed. If there is a hard stain, we would call to ask if you want any stain work done. Otherwise, your rugs are wrapped up in brown paper and get stored until you want them back.

That's when you get our call saying that you're rugs are all set to be picked-up or delivered! We invite you call, email or visit anytime if you have any individual questions or to request a free rug cleaning estimate.
